How to Update Hellobox 8 Firmware via USB

Method 1: Normal USB Upgrade (Recommended)

1. Download a suitable Hellobox 8 firmware file (.bin format) from a trusted source such as the official site freedvb.com.
2. Format a USB drive to FAT32.
3. Copy the firmware file to the root of the USB (do not put it in any folder).
4. Insert the USB into the Hellobox 8.
5. On the receiver go to:
   Main Menu → Tools → USB Upgrade
6. Select the firmware file in the “Upgrade file” field.
7. Choose Yes under “Save data” if you want to keep channels, settings and accounts (or No for a clean install).
8. Highlight Start and press OK.
9. Wait for the process to finish. The box will reboot automatically when done.
10. Remove the USB after the reboot.

Method 2: Auto Recovery Upgrade (for stuck/red-light boxes)

Use this if the box does not boot normally or the normal upgrade fails.

1. Rename the firmware file exactly to:
   auto_burn.fac
2. Copy it to the root of a FAT32 USB drive.
3. Power off the Hellobox 8 completely.
4. Insert the USB.
5. Power the box on.
6. The front panel should show “USB” for a few seconds, then progress like “U0xx”.
7. When it shows “FFFF”, the upgrade is finished.
8. Immediately remove the USB and delete the auto_burn.fac file from the drive (important — otherwise it will keep upgrading).
9. Power the box off and on again.
